Where Growi's knowledge comes from
Growi uses three sources in a fixed order: your crop data, the LetsGrow knowledge base, and general growing knowledge. An answer names the kind of source it used, so you know how much weight to give it.
Why it exists
Section titled “Why it exists”A VPD measured in your greenhouse and a VPD range from a handbook deserve different trust. An answer from your data can be checked against your graphs. An answer from general growing knowledge tells you Growi found nothing more specific.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”| Source | What it is | The answer says |
|---|---|---|
| Your data | The measurements and registrations of the crop you selected | “Based on your data” |
| LetsGrow knowledge base | LetsGrow documentation and Plant Empowerment material | “Based on LetsGrow knowledge” |
| General growing knowledge | What Growi knows about growing in general | “Based on general growing knowledge” |
The phrase comes in the language you write in. In Dutch it is “Op basis van je gegevens”, “Op basis van LetsGrow-kennis” or “Op basis van algemene teeltkennis”. In Spanish it is “Según tus datos”, “Según el conocimiento de LetsGrow” or “Según conocimientos generales de cultivo”.
The phrase is not always the first words. A very short answer can carry the source inside the sentence, for example “(from your data)”. A yes or no answer starts with Yes or No.
The phrase names the source of the first paragraph. When Growi uses your data, the answer opens with that data, and a general explanation comes after it. When you continue on a report, the one you opened the chat from or one Growi made in the same conversation, the answer starts with “Based on the report”.
When Growi looked for data and found none, there is no phrase. The answer says what it looked for and that it was not found. When crop data was available and Growi did not use it, it says why in one sentence. When a target value is missing in your data, Growi continues with the knowledge base and then with general knowledge, and says which one it used.
Growi searches the knowledge base for every question. A document in one language is still found when you ask in another. When a document exists in your language, Growi prefers that version.
Typical target ranges, such as VPD, temperature, humidity, DLI or planting density, come from the knowledge base. When it holds nothing for your crop, Growi uses general knowledge. Either way it adds that the value can differ by variety and growth stage.
Limitations
Section titled “Limitations”- Growi does not show which documents it used. It names the kind of source, not the document.
- Only LetsGrow adds documents to the knowledge base. You cannot upload your own.
- Growi does not search the internet.
- Growi does not identify a pest or disease from a description or a photo. Questions about scouting counts, treatments or thresholds are answered from your data and the knowledge base.
- Growi cannot read photos, files or pasted spreadsheet data.
